Meet Rob Cooper

Leadership That Listens. Change That Works

Rob Cooper is the City Councillor for Ward 8 — a lifelong Hamiltonian, business professional, and dedicated community member committed to delivering real results for residents.

A Ward 8 resident for over 20 years, Rob graduated from Sherwood Secondary School and McMaster University. He holds an MBA, and is both a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Director, bringing strong financial and governance expertise to City Hall.

Throughout his career, Rob has held senior roles across both the business and public sectors, including with Ernst & Young, Stelco, TD Bank, Manulife, McMaster University, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

He ran for City Council to tackle violent crime, repair and rebuild roads, end tax increases that exceed inflation, and confront Hamilton’s housing crisis. Rob is focused on delivering practical, community-driven solutions that make Ward 8 and Hamilton better places to live, work, and raise a family.
